### Custom Wall Objects – True Wall Insertion & Depth Alignment
Problem:
Custom wall objects (e.g. windows) are currently always attached to the interior side of walls. Unlike native windows and doors, they do not insert into or align with the wall thickness. This makes it impossible to create accurate custom window or door objects that behave like real building elements.
Even with correctly configured:
* SVG (2D Top & Elevation Views)
* OBJ (3D model with proper pivot at backside center)
* Object dimensions (Width, Depth, Height)
…the object remains visually attached to one side of the wall and does not respond to wall thickness.
---
Why this is a problem:
In real-world workflows (e.g. measuring existing buildings), wall thickness varies (e.g. 100–250 mm). Window frames should:
* sit
inside the wall
* align with the
center or a defined offset
* adapt visually to
wall thickness
Currently, this is only possible with native Magicplan windows, not with custom objects.
---
Requested features:
  1. True wall insertion for custom wall objects
Allow custom objects to be placed
inside* the wall (not just attached to one side)
* Optional: allow cutting an opening (like native windows/doors)
  1. Placement control
* Interior / Exterior / Center of wall
* Custom offset (e.g. 30 mm from exterior side)
  1. Dynamic depth alignment
* Option to automatically match object depth to wall thickness
* Or parametric control to link object depth to wall thickness
  1. Anchor / pivot control in wall context
* Explicit control over how the object aligns relative to wall thickness
---
Use case:
Creating custom window types (e.g. multi-panel windows, specific manufacturer frames) that:
* visually match real-world construction
* align correctly in both 2D and 3D
* behave consistently across projects with different wall thicknesses
---
Current limitation:
Custom objects behave more like “stickers” on walls rather than architectural elements.
---
Impact:
This feature would significantly improve:
* accuracy of floor plans
* professional reporting
* usability for advanced users and professionals
---
Thanks for considering this!
