Create a new industry / use case package for energy consultants. It would possibly be a mix of existing use cases, like home inspection and restoration / mitigation. We need to collect exact data about all walls, materials used, existing insulation, etc. And windows, with areas, glazing type (double, triple, other). Roof construction and existing insulation.
Maybe you can create a specific discussion group on the community page.

A startup in Switzerland has created an interesting workflow for energy analysis for buildings. It seems to me that magicplan would be a good tool for them for collecting the as built information to feed into their process:

It would be very useful if we could teach the homeowners to use magicplan and then work with them online to clarify details. This would save the trip to the house and the time involved in scanning the building. It would also be good to get the client more involved in the project.

One thing we are missing, which is crucial for doing Heat Loss Calculations, is the outside wall area / length. Right now we have managed to piece it together by hand by comparing different data in the API, but it is really cumbersome.

We are currently also reviewing the structure of our Statistics Report. I would be keen to learn which values you would like to see for every:
- Project
- Floor
- Room
- Wall
- Objects?

Bernd Wolfram There is a massive market in the uk for a product that can do this. Google ECO4 for an overview. Magicplan is the best tool on the market at the moment and a few improvements would turn this good product into a great product.

Thank you for your request. You can achieve this with our newish feature, "Custom Attributes".
You can now define custom attributes for any "object" in magicplan (Rooms, walls, windows, any object, etc.)
So, as an example, you could create a drop-down field that is displayed for every window to define the glazing type or a field to define the material of a wall.
All of these values will be listed in the Report PDF and statistic Report.

Buildings often have many types of exterior walls with different thicknesses and layered materials. And this information is essential to analyse the heat losses. The same goes for floors/ceilings.
